The employment rate in the euro zone increased by 1.5% in the second quarter of this year compared to the same period in 2022, maintaining the upward trend although at a slower pace, Eurostat announced on Wednesday.
Data published by the European statistical service indicate that, in the second quarter of 2023 compared to the same period in 2022, employment increased by 1.5% in the euro area and 1.3% in the European Union (EU), after one year after year. year-on-year increase of 1.6% in both areas in the first quarter of 2023.
In monthly terms, the number of employed increased by 0.2% both in the single currency area and in the EU in the second quarter of 2023, compared to the previous quarter, also maintaining an upward trend at a more moderate pace (given previous increases of 0.5% in both areas in the first quarter of this year).
These are preliminary estimates from the Commonwealth Bureau of Statistics that can be checked with regular releases on Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and key aggregates, including employment, due in September and October.
