Kiev announces the destruction of 15 Russian drones

Ukraine’s armed forces this Saturday announced the destruction of “15 Russian drones” over the night, underlining that Russia used 17 Iranian-made Shahed explosive drones in an airstrike.

Without explaining what happened to the remaining two Russian drones, the Ukrainian army said via the Telegram application that the attacks were “launched from the Kursk region” and that anti-aircraft fire was activated “in the northern and central regions, as well as in the west” of the country.

The two sides to the conflict, which began in February 2022, have recently reported regular air and sea drone raids, at a stage where Ukraine is on an ongoing counter-offensive to regain its Russian-controlled territory.

On Friday, Russia claimed to have destroyed Ukrainian drones aimed at Moscow and its Black Sea fleet. In contrast, on the frontline, in southern Ukraine, Ukrainian troops entered the eastern bank of the Dnipro River, in the Russian-occupied Kherson zone, and took up positions in the region, confirmed the regional governor appointed by Moscow .
