Russia claims to have destroyed a Ukrainian military ship in the Black Sea

Russia announced on Tuesday that it destroyed a Ukrainian military reconnaissance vessel in the Black Sea, a place where clashes have escalated since Moscow withdrew from the grain deal in July.

“Last night [segunda-feira]”The crew of a Su-30cm fighter jet of the Black Sea Fleet destroyed a reconnaissance ship of the Ukrainian armed forces in the area of Russian gas production facilities in the Black Sea,” the Russian defense ministry said.on the messaging platform Telegram.

Ships of the Russian fleet were the target of a Ukrainian attack using a naval drone on Thursday evening, according to the Russian defense ministry.

These ships would “perform navigational control duties” in the Black Sea. According to Moscow, the drone was “destroyed by fire” from Russian military ships, without hitting the target.

Devices like these have been targeting Russian ships since Moscow refused in mid-July to extend a United Nations-negotiated agreement that would allow the export of Ukrainian grain.

Russia says it shot down two drones in the Moscow region

Earlier this Tuesday, Russia announced that it shot down two Ukrainian drones in the Moscow region, where incidents like this have increased in recent weeks.

“An attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out terrorist attacks using unmanned aerial vehicles was thwarted on Monday evening,” the Russian defense ministry said. on the Telegram messaging platform.

“Two drones were detected and destroyed by air defense systems over the territory of the Moscow region,” he added.

According to the mayor of the Russian capital, Sergei Sobyanin, one plane was shot down in the Krasnogorsk region, 20 kilometers northwest of the Kremlin, and a second in the Chastsy region, about 50 kilometers southwest of central Moscow.

According to the Russian state agency TASS, flights at Moscow’s international airports were even suspended.

Drone attacks on Russian territory have increased in recent weeks, generally without causing damage or casualties, and are mainly aimed at the Russian capital, which is more than 500 kilometers from the border with Ukraine.

On Monday, Russia said it had halted further attacks by Ukrainian drones near Moscow and in the Kaluga region, causing no casualties or damage.

In late July and early August, other aircraft were destroyed over Moscow’s business district west of the capital, causing minor damage to the facades of two towers. In May, two drones were shot down over the Kremlin and other drones hit apartment buildings in Moscow.

At the end of July, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky welcomed the fact that “the war is coming to Russian territory”.
