The President of the European Commission, Ursula Von der Leyen, announced on Tuesday that the European Union has disbursed an additional €1.5 billion in financial aid to Ukraine.
“We support Ukraine in its efforts to restore, restore and function the state. Today we paid out another EUR 1.5 billion to Ukraine. And more will follow this year and beyond,” von der Leyen wrote on the social network X (former Twitter).
With this amount, the EU has a total of EUR 19.2 billion in financial support to Kiev.

On social networks, the leader of the community bloc also announced that today she had a “productive meeting” with the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.
“We discussed Ukraine’s progress towards it [a adesão] to the EU, as well as our continued support in the face of Russian aggression,” von der Leyen revealed. “We will continue to work together to bring Ukraine’s grain to the world market and provide economic assistance,” he added.

After the meeting, Zelensky thanked von der Leyen’s efforts “to normalize agricultural exports” from Ukraine, noting the need to fully restore grain exports by September 15.
In the text published on social networks, the Ukrainian president said that he hoped that by the end of 2023 it would be possible to start negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the European Union. “We are also coordinating positions on the Formula for Peace as we move toward the Global Peace Summit,” Zelensky announced.
