Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov reacted on BFMTV on Wednesday to the announcement earlier in the day that Russian authorities have formally taken over the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant in southern Ukraine. The Russian army has been militarily occupying this area since the beginning of March.
“We are absolutely indifferent to any document that the Kremlin signs today,” the Ukrainian minister declared, further explaining that he did not recognize the recent annexations of four occupied Ukrainian regions.
“We move on”
“Our main objective is the total liberation of all temporarily occupied territories” with a return “to the internationally recognized borders of Ukraine of 1991”, specifies Oleksiy Reznikov, that is, with the return of Crimea under the authority of Kyiv. This region had been annexed by Moscow in 2014.
“We are liberating our territories, and we are also going to liberate the Zaporizhia power plant,” the Ukrainian Defense Minister said. “We advance, we fight back, we are not afraid of the Kremlin.”
