After the heat wave, Spain is now experiencing a storm. This Sunday heavy rains and gusts of wind of up to 120 km/h hit the Spanish Mediterranean coast, especially the Balearic Islands.
The storm also brought hail to the Balearic Islands, the northeast of Catalonia and the Valencian Community, which are now on orange alert.
According to the Spanish press, the wind broke the moorings of a tourist cruise, which was docked in Palma. While moving, the ship collided with an oil tanker in the port of the Balearic capital. In a statement, the Balearic Islands Port Authority states that six people suffered minor injuries.
The streets of the Balearic Islands were flooded and several trees fell due to the force of the wind and rain.
The body responsible for Spanish airports also announced that 24 flights were canceled and another 29 were diverted.
The storm was accompanied by a sudden drop in temperatures following a heat wave.
