North Korea criticizes European countries sending fighter jets to Ukraine

North Korea criticized on Monday the deployment, announced by several European countries, of F-16 fighter jets in Ukraine, requested by kyiv for months to fight against Russia.

“The United States had taken an ambiguous position on the issue of combat aircraft supply, under the pretext of not provoking an escalation of the war, but had indulged in the process of offering F-16 fighters, since the ‘counter’ operation “attack” by Ukraine led to numerous casualties and destruction of Western weapons,” according to North Korea’s official KCNA news agency.

North Korean officials, through the North Korean Institute for International Studies, stressed that this move “is desperate” and shows the West’s intention to “provoke a strategic defeat of Russia at any cost on the Ukrainian battlefield.”

“The decision to even supply combat aircraft is an act against peace that incites a prolonged war and totally destroys regional peace and stability,” the text continues, stressing that the supply of these fighters “is a great step towards a nuclear war against Russia.” “.

They also reiterated that Washington “is clearly” the “archenemy blocking the peaceful solution” and pushing Europe towards nuclear war “by inciting its supporters” to supply various types of lethal weapons.

Pyongyang made the remarks after Denmark, Norway and the Netherlands pledged to send such fighter jets.

Last week, the Ukrainian president announced that Amsterdam would send 42 planes, although Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte was reluctant to give an exact figure.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen announced that she would ship 19 aircraft in three batches. Oslo, which was the third to make the announcement, has not yet clarified how many planes it will donate, although sources cited by Norwegian public broadcaster NRK have anticipated between five and 10.

More than a dozen countries have joined a coalition to help Ukraine obtain F-16s, though most are limited to training.
