Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba on Tuesday again rejected any possibility of negotiating with Russian President Vladimir Putin to end Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, accusing him of assassinating Wagner group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin.
“There is no reason to think that the dictator Putin would behave differently when negotiating with us (…) Those who ask us about this should ask Prigozhin: he had a conflict with Putin, he negotiated with him successfully, he ended the conflict “He agreed to some security guarantees and then Putin killed him,” he said.
Therefore, Kuleba claims that no different results are expected in the negotiations with the Russian president, the Ukrinform news agency reported.
The sudden death of the Russian oligarch who led the Wagner mercenary group, on August 23, when the plane in which he was traveling crashed north of Moscow, has triggered a wave of speculation in recent days, although the Kremlin (Russian Presidency ) has assured that he had nothing to do with the plane crash.
Putin publicly expressed his condolences, noting, however, that his former ally had made “big mistakes in life”, in a veiled reference to the revolt carried out in June by the leader of the Wagner group.
On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a military offensive in Ukraine that caused, according to UN data, the worst refugee crisis in Europe since World War II (1939-1945) and caused a high number of refugees in 18 months. . only military but also civilians, impossible to count while the conflict unfolds.
The invasion – justified by Putin with the need to “denazify” and demilitarize Ukraine for Russia’s security – was condemned by the international community in general, which has responded by sending weapons to Ukraine and imposing political and economic sanctions on Russia.
