Platform X will begin offering video and audio calling, owner Elon Musk announced Thursday, in what is a step toward transforming the former Twitter into an “app for everything.”
“Video and audio calls are coming to X,” Musk wrote on the X platform, without specifying when the new features will be available.
Video and audio calls come to X:
– Works on iOS, Android, Mac and PC
– No phone number needed
– X is the effective global address bookThat set of factors is unique.

The calling features work on iOS, Android, Mac and PC systems, and no phone number is required, he said.
“X is the effective global address book,” the billionaire added. “This set of factors is unique.”
Last month, Elon Musk announced Twitter’s rebranding as X, saying it would be an “app for everything,” inspired by China’s WeChat, that would allow users to socialize and manage their finances.
X’s payments agency, Twitter Payments LLC, received a “critical” currency transmission license from the US state of Rhode Island on Monday, allowing it to “engage in cryptocurrency-related activities.”
Since Elon Musk bought Twitter, the platform’s advertising business has collapsed as marketers chafed at the management style and mass layoffs that overturned content moderation.
Elon Musk also scrapped the Twitter logo and replaced the world-famous blue bird with a white and black X.
