The rain also led to cuts in rail traffic and the cancellation of a football match in the Spanish I League, between Atlético de Madrid and Sevilla.
Train traffic has now been restored on almost all lines, but there are still disruptions and delays, according to companies operating in Spain and the company responsible for the infrastructure (Adif).
The biggest disruptions to the trains occurred in the so-called ‘Mediterranean Corridor’, where traffic stopped on Sunday, affecting connections between cities such as Barcelona, Valencia, Alicante or Seville.
