Macron criticizes the G20’s climate results

Last Sunday, French President Emmanuel Macron found the results of the G20 climate summit insufficient and warned “the whole world” of the need to set more ambitious goals, such as the end of fossil fuels.

“It is insufficient,” Macron said in his comments on the final statement on climate matters at a press conference in New Delhi, India, where the 18th meeting of the G20 (group of the world’s 19 largest economies) took place this weekend. world and the European Union, which was joined on Saturday by the African Union).

The summit’s final declaration makes no mention of abandoning fossil fuels, especially oil, which are responsible for global warming.

In a warning to ‘the whole world’, Macron defends the end of the use of oil ‘well before 2050’ and of coal by 2030.

“The richest countries have to make an effort, we are doing it and it is costing us,” he said, asking emerging countries, and especially oil producers, to do their part.
