This aid consists of tents, camping beds, blankets, 80 electric generators, food, hospital tents and water tanks, a statement from the Commission states, adding that the EU is willing to “coordinate other aid offers.” aid”.
The EU also announced financial aid of 500 thousand euros to respond to the most urgent needs of the Libyan population affected by Storm Daniel.
“The EU remains ready to strengthen the response to the most affected people in Libya during this difficult period,” said European Commissioner for Crisis Management Janez Lenarcic.
At least 30,000 people were displaced by the storm, according to the most recent report from the International Organization for Migration (IOM), which Libyan authorities say also caused thousands of deaths and disappearances in this coastal city.
Doubts still persist about the exact number of victims of the disaster, given the difficult access to this city of 100,000 inhabitants.
