London police said on Saturday they arrested a man who tried to break into the royal stables of Buckingham Palace.
“At 1.25am on Saturday 16 September, officers from Buckingham Palace intercepted a person climbing the wall to enter the Royal Mews,” the Royal Mews, Scotland Yard announced.
The 25-year-old was detained by officers outside the royal stables. “At no time did the man enter Buckingham Palace or the palace gardens,” police said.
He was arrested for “trespassing” and remains held at a police station in London.
Despite the increased security, there have been many attempts to break into Buckingham Palace, a royal residence in central London, and Windsor Castle, located west of the capital.
The most extraordinary occurred in 1982, in Buckingham, when a man, Michael Fagan, managed to enter the Queen’s bedroom, who was in bed.
