At least twenty killed in road accident in South Africa

At least twenty people have been killed in Limpopo province, South Africa, following the collision between a bus carrying miners and a truck.

The accident happened on Sunday evening on the R572, in the north of the country.

The bus traveling between Musina and Alldayz, carrying workers from the Venetia diamond mine, collided with the truck, South African news portal News24 initially reported.

Limpopo Department of Transport and Security spokesperson Florence Radzilani confirmed the information, adding that more details will be released after ongoing “investigations” are concluded.

The Venetia mine, located on the border with Botswana and Zimbabwe, produces more than 40% of South Africa’s annual diamond production and is owned by the De Beers company.
