Swedish television crew injured in Russian drone attack

A reporting team from Swedish television channel TV24 was the victim of one of several drone attacks launched by Russian forces in eastern Ukraine in recent days, leaving three of the five elements with minor injuries.

“We were lucky this time,” said journalist Johan Fredriksson, who escaped unscathed, as did photographer Daniel Zdolsek.

Less fortunate were the local producer and two Ukrainian officers accompanying the reporters, who were slightly injured while reporting on the consequences of the conflict in the Zaporizhia region, in the southeast of the country.

However, the vehicle they were traveling in and some of the work equipment were completely destroyed.

The ‘drone’ (unmanned flying device) hit the rear of the vehicle, in which no one was seated.

“This is what millions of people in Ukraine suffer every day,” Fredriksson told the broadcaster, which also shared images of the damage caused by the incident.

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson condemned the “absolutely terrible” attack and used the incident to draw attention to the impact of the Russian offensive on the civilian population, promising a detailed investigation.
