Russia approved a list of 31 countries, including Brazil, Cuba and Venezuela, whose banks and speculators can participate in the Russian currency market, the Moscow Government announced this Wednesday.

The measure, signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, indicates that banks and entities from authorized countries can participate in the Russian market for financial products.

The list also includes seven countries of the former Soviet Union: Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, as well as the four states that together with Russia make up the BRICS group: Brazil, India . , People’s Republic in China and South Africa.

Serbia, Turkey, Iran, Qatar, Pakistan, United Arab Emirates, Morocco and Malaysia are other countries included in the same list.

According to the Moscow executive, the decision is part of new regulations adopted last July that seek to increase the efficiency of the mechanism “for the direct conversion of national currencies of friendly and neutral countries and the formation of direct contributions in rubles (Russia’s currency) to cover payments in national currency”.
