The Ukrainian Post announced on Saturday that it was preparing to print stamps bearing the image of the Crimean bridge hit earlier in the day by an explosion of still unknown origin.
“On the occasion of the holidays (Ukrainian Post) launches a new stamp with the Crimean Bridge, or more precisely with what remains of it,” announces the head of the publication on Facebook, mockingly.
Igor Smelyansky’s publication, shared this Saturday afternoon more than 1000 times, is accompanied by the design of these new stamps, signed by the Ukrainian painter Yuriy Shapoval. We see an explosion on the Crimean bridge, while another ironically picks up an iconic scene from the movie Titanic.
“The exact release date will be announced later,” the post office chief said, noting that 7 million units are planned to go on sale.
Already stamps to celebrate the destruction of a Russian cruiser
The Ukrainian Post had previously printed stamps celebrating the destruction of the Moskva cruiser and others showing a Russian tank being towed by a Ukrainian tractor.
A vehicle bomb started a huge fire on the Crimean Bridge, a key infrastructure and symbol of the annexation of the Ukrainian peninsula of the same name, according to Russia’s National Anti-Terrorism Committee.
This bridge, built at great cost by order of Vladimir Putin to connect the annexed peninsula to Russian territory, is used in particular to transport military equipment of the Russian army fighting in Ukraine.
The postmaster describes the bridge as an “illegal construction”, which “was actively used by the invaders to support their army” against Ukraine.
The Russian Investigative Committee, the country’s main investigative body, promised to identify “all people connected with this crime” and opened a criminal investigation.
