Ukraine joked and multiplied the jokes this Saturday after the explosion of a vehicle bomb on the Crimean bridge, strategic and symbolic infrastructure of this peninsula annexed by Moscow, without claiming responsibility.
CCTV footage posted online showed a giant explosion on the Moscow-built bridge connecting Crimea to mainland Russia.
In these images, the source of the explosion appears to be a white truck driving along the bridge at night with other vehicles. The explosion damaged both the highway and the railway.
Multiple mocking tweets from Ukrainian officials
Ukraine’s Defense Ministry compared the attack to the attack that sank the Moskva cruise ship in the Black Sea in April, another “symbol of Russian power in Ukrainian Crimea.” “What else awaits you Ruskofs?” she wrote insultingly on Twitter.
The kyiv security services (SBU), for their part, published on Telegram deviant verses by the Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko about “the sun rising over the burning bridge”.
“Today is a perfect opportunity to review some poems by Taras Shevchenko,” joked the SBU.
Ukraine’s presidential chief of staff Andriy Iermak tweeted an emoticon showing a bridge in clouds of smoke.
Stamps with the effigy of the blown up bridge?
The Ukrainian Post has announced that it is preparing to print stamps with the image of the “Crimean bridge, or, more precisely, what remains of it.”
His boss, Igor Smelyansky, posted the design for these new stamps on Facebook, showing an explosion on the Crimean bridge and another ironically depicting an iconic scene from the movie Titanic.
The Ukrainian Post had previously printed stamps celebrating the destruction of the Moskva cruiser and others showing a Russian tank being towed by a Ukrainian tractor.
Russia denounces Ukrainian reactions
However, no Ukrainian official has claimed direct responsibility for the attack on the bridge, which comes as Russian President Vladimir Putin, who was close to the project, celebrated his 70th birthday on Friday.
Ukraine had already multiplied jokes and ironic comments during the explosions that damaged Russian bases in Crimea last summer. She did not admit to being the cause of these explosions until several months later.
Russia, for its part, lambasted the Ukrainian reaction to the explosion, a sign according to her of the “terrorist nature” of Ukraine.
