89-year-old Italian actress Sofia Loren underwent surgery on Sunday for a hip fracture after a fall at the house where she lives in Geneva, Switzerland, and will remain in hospital for several days.
With the actress “are her two sons, Edoardo and Carlo,” according to a statement from the company “Restaurante Sofia Loren”, owned by the Italian actress.
“Fortunately the operation went well,” said the same message published on Monday that the operation took place in a hospital in Geneva.
Sofia Loren, who turned 89 on September 20, planned to travel to Bari, southern Italy, on a business trip.
In September, Sofia Loren took part in an event in Venice, and in June she was the protagonist of the centenary celebrations of the Verona Opera Festival, Italy, in early September.
Loren, who won the Oscar for Best Actress in 1962 for the film “La Ciociara”, was the leading actor in the 2020 film “La Vita Davanti”, shot in Bari, directed by her son Edoardo Ponti.
