The American Abrams tanks delivered to Kiev “will burn,” the Kremlin promised Tuesday, ensuring that their arrival on the battlefield “will not change the balance of power” between the Russian and Ukrainian armies.
“Abrams tanks are serious weapons,” said Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov. “They will burn too,” he told reporters, echoing Russian President Vladimir Putin’s warning at the time of the delivery of the first Leopard tanks to Ukraine last January.
“All this cannot in any way affect the essence of the special military operation,” nor “its outcome,” assured Dmitri Peskov. And he added: “There is… no single type of weapon that can change the balance of power on the battlefield.”
America too involved for your liking
According to him, thanks to these new shipments to kyiv, “the Americans continue to increase their direct involvement in this conflict,” but the Russian army manages to “counteract” the attacks of the Ukrainian army.
kyiv forces launched a counteroffensive last June aimed at pushing the Russian army beyond occupied territories. But Moscow’s troops depend on powerful fortified lines, made up of vast minefields, trenches and anti-tank traps that are difficult to penetrate.
So far, the Ukrainian army has only been able to retake a handful of villages, but in recent weeks pressure has increased on the southern front as colder temperatures approach, less conducive to an attack.
