Russia bombs Odessa again with drones and attacks the port of Izmail on the Danube River

This morning, Russia again attacked the Odessa region, in southwestern Ukraine, with drones that attacked infrastructure in the port of Izmail, on the Danube River, the Ukrainian army said.

The head of the Military Administration of Odessa, located near the border with Romania, stated that the attack, which lasted two hours, damaged “about 30 trucks” and “six vans”, in an area where two drivers and several warehouses were located. .

“The anti-aircraft defenses have been working with extraordinary intensity. Most of the drones were shot down,” said Oleg Kiper, who published two images on social networks of some of the completely burned trucks.

“Unfortunately, in the Izmail district there were impacts on the port infrastructure,” explained the director. The collision of the drones caused a fire that has already been extinguished by firefighters, he added.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, during the early morning hours, Russia launched an attack with 38 Iranian-made Shahed explosive drones, 26 of which were shot down by anti-aircraft defenses.

Some of these drones crashed in the industrial city of Krivi Rig, where a company’s facilities were damaged.

This appears to be a new attack on Ukrainian agricultural exports, which have been a target of Russian forces since Moscow abandoned the so-called grain deal in mid-July.

Under this pact, Russia committed for one year, together with Turkey at the UN, to allow the departure of grain through three Ukrainian ports on the Black Sea, all of them located in the Odessa region.

After the Kremlin abandoned the deal, kyiv turned to the Danube ports.

Separately, the governor of Kherson in eastern Ukraine, Prokudin Oleksndr, said at least five people were injured after another Russian attack this morning.

Another Russian missile attack destroyed a house in the town of Avdiivka, in the Donetsk region of Ukraine, although no casualties were reported.

“The house is now practically uninhabitable, like all of Avdiivka. The consequences of this attack are carefully documented, sooner or later this evidence will be used against Russia in an international court,” said regional governor Igor Moroz.
