At least nine people were killed and five dozen were injured on Sunday after the roof of a church collapsed during a mass in Ciudad Modero, northeastern Mexico, local authorities said.
The structure of the building collapsed during a baptismal mass, but the causes of the accident that occurred around 3:30 PM (10:30 PM in Lisbon) are currently unknown.
Tamaulipas Governor Américo Villarreal lamented the incident in a message on the social network

Video captured by a neighborhood security camera, which has since been shared on social media, shows the moment the roof began to crack and fell into the church.

Elements of the Civil Protection, the Red Cross, the National Guard and firefighters are working at the location.
There are two cranes on site to remove the debris.
