The European Union (EU) called on Washington this Monday to reconsider the brakes on financial aid to Ukraine, as there is an “existential threat” to Europeans as long as the Russian Federation continues the invasion.
“This has to do with the stability and predictability of war, because this conflict has profound consequences for the entire world. But for us Europeans it is an existential threat,” the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs dramatized in statements to journalists. he arrived in the Ukrainian capital for a surprise visit, accompanied by ministers from the 27 member states.
The head of European diplomacy admitted that the conflict on Ukrainian soil “is not seen as such by everyone”: “But for us Europeans – and allow me to repeat – it is an existential threat.”
“It is therefore necessary to continue to support and consult with our North American partners so that they continue to do so. I believe that [os Estados Unidos] You will reconsider the decision and together we will remain by your side,” he stated in a speech to Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.
Kuleba dedramatized the issue for now, saying North American support “hasn’t ended yet.”
However, the diplomat opined that it is necessary to understand whether the Congress strike is “an incident or systemic.”
“I believe it was an isolated incident. We have had in-depth discussions with both parties and we will work to ensure it does not happen again, regardless of the circumstances,” he added.
