The death toll after an explosion at a petrol station in Creeslough, in northwestern Ireland, has risen to 10, Irish police said on Saturday.
Irish police, quoted by the Associated Press, said no one is missing after Friday’s explosion in Creeslough, County Donegal.
The police are investigating the causes of the explosion and according to inspector David Kelly everything points to “a tragic accident”.
The Irish Garda Siochana Police have indicated that: the explosion killed four men, three women, two teenagers and a primary school-age girl..
Eight people, one in critical condition, were hospitalized after the destruction of the Applegreen service station in the community of about 400 people, which is located near Ireland’s Atlantic coast.
Emergency services from Ireland and neighboring Northern Ireland participated in what police classified as a “search and recovery operation”.
The explosion toppled the gas station building, which houses the village’s main shop and post office, and damaged nearby buildings..
Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin said yes one of the “darkest days for Donegal and the whole country”.
“This tragic loss of life will stun the people of this island as well as the people of Creeslough.”
Agriculture Minister Charlie McConalogue, who represents Donegal in the Irish Parliament, said the service station was known across the country for its prominent position on the airline’s main road and that it was “the heart” of the community.
“People are shocked and stunned,” he told Irish broadcaster RTE.
