The Ukrainian president announced this Thursday through his social networks his arrival in Granada to participate in the summit of leaders of the European Political Community and the European Union (EU), which is taking place within the scope of the Spanish presidency of the Union. European.
“I arrived in Granada, Spain, to participate in the summit of the European Political Community,” wrote Volodymyr Zelensky, quoted by the Spanish news agency EFE.
The Ukrainian president added that the objective “is to guarantee the security and stability” of Europe.
Nearly 50 leaders of European countries meet this Thursday in Granada to debate the future of the continent at another summit of the European Political Community, a forum created in 2022, after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The meeting is organized by the Spanish presidency of the Council of the EU, which takes place during the second half of this year, and takes place on the eve of an informal meeting, also in Granada, of the European Council, where the leaders of the European Council are sitting. 27 countries of the community bloc.
The two meetings aim to be “the great milestone” of the Spanish presidency and have “a common thread,” said sources from the Government of Madrid.
The Spanish presidency of the EU had neither confirmed nor denied the presence of the president of Ukraine, citing security reasons for not commenting on this possibility.
Ukraine is one of the CPE countries and, like other states of this community, is a formal candidate for joining the EU.
