Kiev denounces the existence of at least seventy Russian camps for the re-education of minors

Ukraine’s ombudsman, Dmytro Lubinets, denounced the existence of “as many as seventy” reeducation camps for Ukrainian children deported to Russia or Moscow-occupied territories, Ukrinform news agency reported on Thursday.

“They are obligated. Our children cannot choose whether they want to participate or not. Everyone is registered and it is an official education program,” says Lubinets about the camps, where minors receive ‘patriotic-military’ education.

The official stated that Russia wants to “train a new generation of soldiers among Ukrainian children” who will “probably have to fight against Ukraine or other countries” in the future.

“Currently we can say that no fewer than seventy such camps are operating on the territory of the Russian Federation, in the temporarily occupied territories and in Crimea,” he reiterated..

Ukraine has identified approximately 20,000 minors who have been transferred from their homes or state centers in the occupied territories to other parts of Ukraine under Russian control or to Russia itself.

Some of these minors were separated from their families when they were not allowed to return from camps where their parents or guardians had agreed to send them for a few weeks.

In March this year, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for illegal mass deportation of Ukrainian children against Russian President Vladimir Putin and his child protection chief, Maria Lvova-Belova, who publicly defended the policy of placing children from occupied Ukraine for adoption. by Russian families.
