The Biden family’s German Shepherd, named Commander, was removed from the White House after a series of bites. It is currently still being decided what will happen to the dog.

According to BBC News, the two-year-old animal bit a Secret Service agent who required medical treatment at the scene. It was the 11th time the commander bit a security guard at the White House or the family home in Delaware. A number of officers had to be taken to hospital.

“The President and First Lady remain grateful for the patience and support of the U.S. Secret Service and everyone involved as they continue to work toward solutions. is currently not at the White House and next steps are being evaluated,” spokeswoman Elizabeth Alexander said in a statement on Wednesday.

The press secretary attributed blame for the attacks to tension who lives in the White House. “It’s stressful for all of us. As you can imagine, it can also be stressful for a pet or pets more broadly,” Karine Jean-Pierre said in July.

That same month, the German Shepherd was subjected to new training techniques following the biting incidents.

One of the eleven incidents occurred on October 26, 2022, after First Lady Jill Biden failed to control the commander. A week later, another police officer said he had been bitten twice.
