Russian hacker group attacks websites of Spanish institutions

A Russian cybercriminal group has attacked several Internet websites of institutions in Spain and the city of Granada, in the south of the country, where an informal meeting of the European Council will take place this Friday, sources connected to the investigation into the attack say . .

Official websites of the Spanish government, the National Cyber ​​Security Center, the local authorities of Granada, urban transport and tourism companies in the city were attacked by a group of Russian hackers calling themselves Noname057, according to the same sources cited by the EFE news agency.

The sources explained that the result of the attack is the inability to access Internet pages, without other consequences.

Access to several pages, such as those of the Spanish government and that of the National Cyber ​​Security Center, has since been restored.

Spain currently holds the biennial presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU).

In addition to the informal European Council meeting, Granada on Thursday hosted a summit of the European Political Community, a forum created in 2022 after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and involving more than 40 European countries.
