This Friday, the Iranian regime criticized the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to Narges Mohammadi, considering it to be a “biased and political” decision.
Nasser Kanani, spokesman for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, condemned the award in a statement: “The committee awarded the Nobel Peace Prize to a person who has been convicted of repeated violations of laws and criminal acts.”
The Iranian regime added that it “condemns this political and partial attitude.”
The Norwegian Nobel Committee announced this Friday that the activist Narges Mohammadi is the winner of the 2023 Nobel Peace Prize. The Iranian has been a defender of women’s rights in Iran and is vice president of the Center for Human Rights Defenders, led by his fellow Nobel Peace Prize winners. The winner of the award in 2003, Shirin Ebadi, an Iranian human rights lawyer.
Berit Reiss-Andersen, president of the Norwegian Nobel Committee in Oslo, said Mohammadi was honored “for her fight against the oppression of women in Iran and for her fight to promote human rights and freedom for all.”
