The Iranian authorities expressed their support and congratulated the Palestinian militias for the “proud” offensive against Israel, launched this Saturday from the Gaza Strip and which caused the death of 22 Israelis, Europa Press reported.
“We congratulate the Palestinian mujahideen for this operation. The defenders of the temple and martyrs like Qasem Soleimani are also with these mujahideen (…) until the liberation of Palestine and Jerusalem,” said Rahim Safavi, advisor to Iranian Supreme Leader Ali. Khamenei, according to the Iranian news agency ISNA, cited by Europa Press.
Safavi was referring to Soleimani, who was killed in January 2020 in a US strike in Iraq and was then head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard’s “Quds” Force.
“We support this operation and we are sure that the Resistance Front also supports it,” said Safavi during an event in support of Palestinian children and adolescents held at the Arsbaran Cultural Center in Tehran.
Safavi also denounced “the murder of Palestinian children and adolescents at the hands of the Zionists, in the face of silence from international organizations.”
“We see how the Zionists cruelly shoot Palestinian children in the heads,” he accused, alluding to the 37 children murdered in Israeli actions carried out this year. The Iranian leader noted that this was the deadliest year for Palestinian minors in the last 15 years.
Safavi also denounced the detention of Palestinian minors in Israeli prisons and the “physical and mental torture” of the “Zionist regime.”
The militias of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) launched more than 2,200 rockets against southern Israel and large urban centers such as Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, accompanied by several attacks by hundreds of militiamen in the border cities of the Gaza Strip.
To date, Operation “Al Aqsa Flood” has killed 22 people and injured 545 in Israel.
The Israeli army immediately responded with a massive air intervention, Operation “Iron Swords”, in which dozens of Israeli warplanes attacked numerous targets of the Islamist movement in the enclave. The number of Palestinians killed is not yet known.
