The UN Secretary General highlighted the impact of the attack on the civilian population, referring to the “numerous” Israelis killed, injured, attacked and kidnapped in their homes, and expressed his condolences to the victims and their families. He also asked for the release of those kidnapped.
Medical sources cited by the EFE agency report that more than 100 people died in Israel in the attack launched by Hamas from Gaza, which also left more than 900 injured.
Meanwhile, at least 198 people were killed and more than 1,600 injured in Israeli bombings in the Palestinian enclave, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
