The Israeli military has declared it has “full control” of locations in southern Israel that have been attacked since the start of Hamas’ offensive from Gaza, a military spokesman said on the third day of fighting.
“We have full control of the places,” declared Israeli army spokesman General Daniel Hagari in a televised press conference, adding, however, that “there may still be terrorists in the area.”
Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israeli territory on Saturday (Operation al-Aqsa Storm), with the launch of thousands of rockets and the incursion of militias.
In response to the Hamas attack, Israel bombed the Gaza Strip and took up positions in the south of the territory.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that Israel is “at war” with Hamas.
