Scottish Prime Minister Humza Yousaf expressed concern on Monday about his in-laws, who were stuck in the Gaza Strip, where they were visiting family, with no way to leave.
The Scottish leader’s wife, Nadia El-Nakla, is of Palestinian descent and her parents, who live in Scotland, were visiting her 92-year-old paternal grandmother in Gaza when Hamas launched the offensive against Israel.
“We cannot sleep, we are clinging to our mobile phones,” Yusaf told reporters. “I’m worried about my family,” he added.
“Despite the best efforts of the British Foreign Office, no one can guarantee them safe passage,” continued the Scottish leader, who condemned Hamas for its offensive as the Israeli army ordered a total siege of the Gaza Strip.
