The French authorities announced this Monday the death of a second French citizen, following the offensive launched by the Islamic group Hamas against Israel.
“France regrets the tragic death of a second French citizen, a victim of terrorist attacks perpetrated by Hamas against Israel,” declared the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“We send our condolences to his loved ones and we are in contact with the family and the Israeli authorities to provide them with all our support during this terrible experience,” he added.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that it continues to work and take measures to clarify the situation of French citizens not located.
Although an official figure has not been released, French media indicate that there may be between seven and eight missing people, some of whom could be part of the list of hostages captured by the Palestinian militia.
French authorities confirmed on Sunday afternoon the death of a first victim as a result of the conflict that has already left more than 900 Israelis and another 560 Palestinians dead.
French diplomacy reported that the consulates of Tel Aviv and Jerusalem have around 87 thousand people registered.
Many other French people were in the country without being registered when the Hamas operation began.
Air France has suspended flights between Paris and Tel Aviv until further notice.
