The head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow, called on Monday for an end to the war in the Holy Land.
The patriarch, who has always supported the Russian military campaign in Ukraine, prayed this Monday for an end to the fighting between Israelis and Palestinians in the Holy Land.
“The head of the Russian Orthodox Church prays for the cessation of military actions and the recovery of the victims,” said a statement issued by the Church.
The leader called on all those involved in the conflict to “moderate” and “save human lives and restore public order.”
Kirill also recalled that the Holy Land has a “special meaning” for millions of Christians around the world, stressing that coexistence has not only a humanitarian but also a religious character.
“The Church asks for a just peace and understanding between peoples,” he stressed.
Russia, which does not recognize Hamas as a terrorist organization, called today to “no longer delay” the solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
