Air Europa target of cyber attack. Airline asks its customers to cancel credit cards

Air Europa was the target of a computer attack during the early hours of this Tuesday, and is asking its customers to cancel the credit cards with which they paid for their trips with the airline.

According to the Spanish newspaper El País, the company confirmed that the cyberattack was carried out through a security breach in the airline’s systems.

Several Air Europa customers received an email from the company warning that the airline had suffered a cyber attack, which allowed attackers to access some users’ banking information, such as card numbers, expiration dates and CVV security code. .

The company adds that the situation is now under control and that none of its clients have been victims of fraud. The airline also guarantees that Air Europa systems have already been protected.

“The data extracted was exclusively that associated with the cards themselves and not with the customers. In no case did the cybercriminals access other Air Europa databases or extract any other type of personal information from customers,” the airline assures El Country.

Still, as a precaution, the company decided to send an email to the various customers who may have been affected, in which it recommends that they contact their bank to cancel the credit card they used to make payments to the airline.
