An 86-year-old Portuguese man was seriously injured this Monday in Cádiz, in southern Spain, after being hit by a bus, in an accident in which three people died, local authorities reported this Tuesday.
The man of Portuguese nationality was on vacation in the region and is admitted to intensive care at the city hospital in a stable but serious condition, local authorities reported this Tuesday.
The collision occurred on Monday afternoon and, according to the driver’s reports and the first conclusions of the accident investigation, was due to a malfunction in the bus’s brakes.
The bus crossed into the opposite lane of the road on which it was traveling and crossed a sidewalk and three people died after being run over.
The only seriously injured person was an 86-year-old Portuguese man and around 30 people were treated at the scene by emergency services.
Around 30 nursing students from a faculty in the region were traveling on the bus who were going to take a course at the medical school in Cádiz.
