This Portuguese citizen says that there has been a lack of food in supermarkets since yesterday. “Yesterday they gave us the information that it would be better to have food in our shelters (shelters) and we already know that there has been a shortage of stock in some things,” he adds. However, shops are still open and people are trying to live as normal a life as possible. Although in the last few hours there has been No rockets In the area where he lives, “there is a lot of fear, a lot of tension, there are people who are still missing and we are still waiting how the situation will develop.” Rosa Brissos says that some of her Israeli researcher colleagues were called up for military service. “We don’t have much information, we just know that they are fine,” she says.

The Portuguese researcher points out that Portugal is one of the few countries that is going to rescue its citizens in Israel and gives the example of her French and German colleagues who, as far as she knows, are trying to leave alone on commercial flights. .

However, he supports the criticism of the embassy and affirms that the consular services came into contact with the Portuguese residents in Israel very late.

Rosa Brissos guarantees that the lack of effectiveness of the embassy is recurrent. “It’s a somewhat dysfunctional service. I’ve been in Israel for two and a half years and there are papers that I still haven’t resolved because they don’t respond to my emails,” she says.

“Given this situation, in the first hours panic was generated among the Portuguese community and only later was a WhatsApp group of people who work at the embassy created, but much later and nothing institutional,” he points out. The Portuguese did not receive formal contact from the Portuguese authorities until Monday about the flight that would take them to Cyprus.
