At least 169 Israeli soldiers died in fighting against Hamas, four days after the attack launched by the Palestinian Islamist movement against Israel, the Hebrew army reported this Wednesday.
“As of this morning, we had informed the families of 169 Israeli soldiers who fell in the fighting,” Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari told reporters, adding that the families of 60 people kidnapped and taken to prison had also been informed. Loop.
“This shows the magnitude of the fighting in the region. The intention was to conquer the territory, not just make an incursion and return to Gaza. There are people who remained on the ground. On the last day, we killed 18 terrorists,” Hagari said.
Israel is reeling from Saturday’s major offensive by Hamas, which caused at least 1,200 deaths in Israel, the deadliest attack in the country’s 75-year history.
In the Gaza Strip, the death toll rose from 950 to 1,055, according to an upwardly revised report on Wednesday.
“We have at least 1,055 martyrs and another 5,184 people suffering from various injuries,” the Palestinian Health Ministry said today.
