The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) revealed that since Saturday, nine of its employees have been killed following airstrikes in Gaza. In addition to the human losses, at least 14 of its infrastructures in the territory suffered direct or indirect damage.
UNRWA houses 170,000 people in more than 80 schools and other facilities in Gaza. As schools reach capacity, people are forced to seek refuge in health centers.
On Tuesday morning, the UN agency’s headquarters suffered collateral damage due to airstrikes on nearby neighborhoods. Some of the employees took refuge in that same complex, in a nearby building, during the attacks.
