8 more Portuguese arrived in Lisbon. MNE completes repatriation mission

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MNE) stated that the C-130 landed at the Figo Maduro Aerodrome in Lisbon at around 7:30 am on Thursday, with the “last 22 people – 8 Portuguese and 14 foreign citizens, who have been in Cyprus since yesterday”.

The Portuguese MNO thus concludes “the repatriation mission launched by Portugal to bring back nationals who indicated their intention to leave Israel.”

“The repatriation mission, which carried two hundred people, including nationals and foreigners, was carried out by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of National Defense,” said the note sent to newsrooms.

The government also emphasizes that “all national citizens who have indicated to the Portuguese authorities their intention to return are already in Portugal.”

It is also stated that the “repatriation mission was also able to respond to the call of several international partners, transporting approximately four dozen foreigners, some of whom stayed in Larnaca to return to their countries of origin”.

“Portugal was thus one of the first countries able to launch a military flight and therefore repatriate national citizens,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also indicates, noting that the operation “had the cooperation of the Cypriot authorities, who provided facilities to welcome the first group of citizens, who waited for the second to board the C-130 and then leave together for Portugal on a flight chartered by the Portuguese State”, which arrived in Lisbon on Wednesday morning.
