Donald Tusk claims victory for the opposition in the Polish elections

Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski’s Law and Justice (PiS) party won Poland’s elections, according to the exit poll, but without a majority, opening the door to an opposition alliance led by former European Council President Donald’s Civic Coalition Tusk. .

The IPSOS exit poll for TVN24 puts PiS in the lead, with 36.8% of the vote, followed by the Coalition with 31.6%. The Third Way has 13% and the New Left 8.6%. During the campaign, Tusk showed his willingness to form an alliance with these two parties. The Confederation, an ally of PiS, has 6.2%.

Translated into deputies, the three opposition parties will have 248 seats in parliament, where 460 representatives sit, while PiS and the Confederation will not exceed 212.

Tusk immediately responded to the polls, saying: “This is the end of devilish times, the end of the PiS government. We did it,” he told supporters in Warsaw.
