The Palestinian movement Hamas announced this Tuesday the death of one of its military commanders, Ayman Nofal, in an Israeli attack.
Nofal was a member of the general military council and led operations in the central Gaza Strip of the Al Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas. He died during an attack on the Bureij camp, reads a brief statement from the armed movement cited by Agence France-Presse.
Previously, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant had warned Hamas members that they only had the option of dying in their positions or “surrendering unconditionally.”
“There is no third option. We will annihilate the Hamas organization and dismantle all its capabilities,” said the Israeli Defense Minister during a visit to an air base in the south of the country.
Gallant took the opportunity to meet with pilots and technicians from the Israeli Air Force’s fleet of F-35 aircraft, stating that the Hebrew State’s planes “will reach everywhere” and that each of the missiles “has a direction.”
“We will reach out to each and every member of Hamas,” he added, insisting on the idea that Israel will eliminate Palestinian militants from the Islamist movement after the unprecedented offensive launched against Israel on the 7th of this month.
The surprise attack on Israel has already caused more than 1,400 deaths and the Israeli response, which includes bombings and cutting off water, fuel and electricity supplies to the Gaza Strip, has killed more than 2,800 Palestinians.
