Web Summit CEO Paddy Cosgrave: “I apologize”

Paddy Cosgrave, founder and CEO of Web Summit, a conference that has been bringing together the world of technology in Lisbon since 2016, has just issued a statement apologizing for the statements published on the social network X (formerly Twitter) since Friday about the war in Israel and Palestine.

“I understand that what I said, at the time I said it, and the way it was presented, caused deep pain to many. To anyone who was hurt by my words, I deeply apologize,” he wrote. the Web Summit blog.

Cosgrave added that he did not convey any sympathy for the victims, but that his “goal has always been to fight for peace.”

Without any fuss and in response to the numerous criticisms he has received in recent days, the CEO of Web Summit says: “I unreservedly condemn Hamas’ malicious, abhorrent and monstrous attack on October 7.”
