The Portuguese Minister of Foreign Affairs considered this Wednesday that the “information that it could have been an Islamic Jihad missile” that caused Tuesday’s explosion in a Gaza hospital “seems a fairly consolidated idea.”
“This morning we heard very detailed explanations from the Israeli defense forces. We have no information of our own. However, the information that it could have been a missile from the Islamic Jihad seems to be a very consolidated idea,” declared João Gomes Cravinho to the journalists, in Namur, Belgium.
When asked if the possibility of an Israeli missile hitting the Al-Ahli hospital in Gaza City was ruled out, the minister replied: “I don’t have any concrete information. I heard a very detailed explanation from the Israeli defense forces, that “Aims at an Islamic Jihad missile. “I am not aware of any concrete information about the possibility that it is an Israeli missile.”
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, who is in Belgium after the state visit of the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, once again regretted the death of hundreds of people in the air attack that affected this hospital.
“It is an absolutely tragic situation,” he considered.
The Ministry of Health of the Gaza Strip, an enclave controlled by Hamas, blames the Israeli Armed Forces for this attack.
Israel denied responsibility for the attack and attributed the explosion to a misfire by the Islamic Jihad group.
