The Rafah terminal on the Egypt-Gaza border opens on Friday

The Rafah terminal, the only entry point into the Gaza Strip not controlled by Israel, will open on Friday to allow humanitarian aid to flow into that Palestinian territory, a television station close to Egypt’s secret services reported today.

Citing “sources”, the television station AlQahera News indicated that “Rafah will open tomorrow (Friday)”, without giving further details about the aid that will reach the Palestinian enclave that has been under Israeli bombardment for twelve days, following an attack by the Islamist movement Hamas on Israel , on October 7, which left more than 1,400 dead, most of them civilians.

On Wednesday night, US President Joe Biden stated that he had received a guarantee from his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah El-Sisi that he would “allow up to 20 trucks”, a completely insufficient number, according to the World Health Organization. Organization of Health (WHO).

The crossing, on the border with Egypt, is the only route into or out of Gaza that is not controlled by Israel.
