Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni announced Friday that she is divorcing her daughter’s father after audio was released in which Andrea Giambruno made sexist and sexual comments and apparently admitted to a love affair with another woman.
“My relationship with Andrea Giambruno, which lasted almost ten years, ends here”Meloni wrote in a social media post, stating that their paths “parted a while ago.”

The announcement was made after Giambruno, a television host, was caught making overtly sexual and sexist comments to colleagues off-air, backstage at his talk show.Giorno’s diaryon the commercial channel Rete 4.
“How are you, darling? Do you know that (name) and I are having an affair? The whole of Mediaset knows that, and now you too”he heard himself say to a woman.
“But we are looking for a third person so that we can have a threesome. Foursomes too. Do you want to be part of our working group?” he asked in comments broadcast on another television channel on Tuesday and Thursday.
Meloni, 46, marks one year in power this weekend and heads a right-wing government that vigorously defends traditional family values.
The Italian prime minister was forced to defend Giambruno in August after he was accused of victim blaming in comments he made about rape on his talk show. During a debate about two gang rapes over the summer, the 42-year-old presenter said that “if a person avoids getting drunk and going crazy, he can also avoid getting into certain trouble, such as encountering a wolf.”
In this Friday’s publication, Meloni thanked Giambruno “for the wonderful years” they spent together, for the difficulties they went through and for giving him the most important thing in life – his seven-year-old daughter Ginevra.
