Last Friday, British meteorological authorities issued a new red alert for parts of eastern Scotland, warning of the risk of further flooding on Saturday.
On Thursday, a 57-year-old woman died after being swept into a river in Scotland’s Angus region, where 400 homes were evacuated.
A 56-year-old man also died when his van was hit by a falling tree in the same area.
Forecasts indicate that rain intensity in Scotland is expected to decrease over the coming hours, but emergency services are warning that rivers could still rise and break through storm surge barriers.
