“I have known Filipe Domingues for many years, from his previous positions at IPDAL. I have always admired his ability to build bridges and represent his institution in the most professional way. When the Institute for Economy and Peace decided to close its activities in Portugal, the choice seemed obvious to us,” says Serge Stroobants, IEP Director for Europe, Middle East and North Africa, who was in Lisbon a few days ago and was interviewed by DN. In his comments on the state of the world, at a time when the conflict between Israel and Hamas brings a new dose of conflict, Stroobants surprised by emphasizing that “the conflict that claimed the most victims last year was not that of Ukraine, but rather the conflict that last year’s war claimed the most victims in Tigray, in Ethiopia.” The phrase provided the title of the interview.
