A Filipino radio host was shot dead during a live broadcast in his studio.
According to BBC News, Juan Jumalon, better known as DJ Johnny Walker, was broadcasting his radio show on Facebook from 94.7 Gold Mega Calamba FM when a suspect entered the studio and shot him. The suspect entered the studio after asking permission to announce something important.
The announcer was taken to hospital, but doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
Philippine authorities are investigating the case.
Philippine President Marcos Jr. condemned the death of Juan Jumalon and ordered police “to conduct a thorough investigation to quickly bring the perpetrators to justice.”
I condemn in the strongest terms the murder of broadcaster Juan Jumalon. I have directed the PNP to conduct a thorough investigation to swiftly bring the perpetrators to justice.

“Attacks on journalists will not be tolerated in our democracy,” he added.
Since the beginning of Marcos Jr.’s tenure four journalists have already been murdered in June 2022.
